Pakistan on Monday called India-Most India’s diplomat in Islamabad to express his concern for the call for violence against a minority by Hindu forecasters at the three-day event held at Haridwar.
The cost of D’Affaires from the Indian High Commission was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad and asked to express the serious concern of the Pakistani government “on open calls reported widely by Hindutva supporters to implement the Indian Muslim genocide” said an official statement.
The police in Haridwar registered the case on Thursday after a video of the three days of Dharma Sansad which was held for December 17-19, causing all the forecasters participating in the event had called for violence against the minorities.
There was no response from India to diplomat summons by Pakistan’s foreign office.
The impressive Pakistani side to the Indian government that it was “very despicable” that the forecasters who made calls for violence “were not declared as regret or the Government of India had condemned or took any action against them so far”, said the statement
Hatred speeches reportedly seen by great concern by civil society and cross-section of people in Pakistan, said the statement. “Toxic narratives for minorities, especially Muslims and their persecution” has become such norms, and incitement such as violence has preceded riots in New Delhi in February 2020, added the statement.
“India is expected to investigate hatred speeches and violent incidents that extend minorities, especially Muslims and their worship homes and take steps to stop such incidents because they repeated in the future,” said the statement.
Pakistan asked India to ensure minority safety, security and welfare, including protection of religious places and their way of life.
Relations between India and Pakistan are currently at low levels of all time and Indians have called Pakistani diplomats in New Delhi several times in recent months to protest examples of Hindu minority oppression and attacks on Hindu temples.
