Meanwhile, friends from a second British man who had been detained by the Taliban in Afghanistan had requested his release, said they believed he might be held “because of an error”.
Peter Jouvenal, a British / German citizen, has been held since early December and visited the country for business and family reasons, his friends said.
Mr. Jouvenal, a Muslim man who married a Afghan woman, has traveled to Afghanistan for more than 40 years as a freelance cameraman, entrepreneur and investors.
