Turkey is ready to provide all possible assistance during the negotiation process between Ukraine and Russia, President Tayyip Erdogan told Ukrainian leaders Volodymyr Zelenskiy during phone calls, the Turkish presidency said on Sunday. Erdogan said the evacuation of injured and civilians in Mariupol Ukraine must be ascertained, adding that Turkey saw the guarantor problem in principle positively. Ukraine has been seeking security guarantees from various countries during the conversation.
Meanwhile, Russia continued its attack on the last Ukrainian defenders hiding in a giant steel job at Mariupol, a few days after Moscow expressed victory in the southern city and said the troops did not need to take the factory. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the country’s army was not ready to try to penetrate the siege of the port city.
He said American Top Diplomats, State Secretary Antony Blinken, and Secretary of Defense A.S. Lloyd Austin, will visit Kyiv on Sunday and discuss the type of weapon needed by Ukraine because the Russian invasion enters the third month. “As soon as we have (more weapons), there are quite a lot of them, believe me, we will soon reclaim this area or that, which is temporarily occupied,” Zelenskiy said at a press conference Saturday night. The White House has not confirmed the travel plan for Blinken and Austin.
