Ahima waited until late at night to return to his family’s home with his brother to collect clothes and documents. He was fully aware of the dangers they faced, and hoped that the short visit was unknown.
But they were seen, and immediately there was a collision on the front door, accompanied by threats and demands to enter – the Taliban had arrived.
The Talibs charged and searched the house looking for Rahima Ahmed’s husband, but he was not there. Rahima refused to say where he was. There was an argument, shouting, and then the shot was heard. One of the fighters has opened fire with his AK-47 Kalashnikov, hit Rahima’s head.
Rahima’s brother and several neighbors took him to the nearest hospital. But the same Talib warrior group appeared there, and ordered the medical staff not to care for the 26 -year -old woman.
Unconscious and severe blood from injury, Rahima was taken to his sister’s house, and then to a private clinic carried out by a doctor who knew the family. Emergency operations were carried out, but he died immediately after that.
Ahmed is in the list sought from a famous senior Taliban official in the western country, who maintains hatred for him and has sent people to Kabul to arrest or kill him. He had heard about their arrival and moved to another address with his wife.
Ahmed, 42 years old, who has a degree in the economic field, has worked for the United Nations, the World Bank, and the British company that carried out projects contracted by the British government involving the Afghan government.
He said he had rejected repeated demands from Senior Talib Mullah for money from the infrastructure project he was working on. Every rejection made Mullah more angry, and he swore fees to Angrezzi Baccha (“Son of the English”), as he called Ahmed.
On August 17 last year, two days after Kabul fell to the Taliban, Ahmed submitted an evacuation under the Arap (Afghan Relocations and Assistance) scheme with the support of British companies.
He received a reply from a foreign office, the Commonwealth and Development (FCDO), said his request had been received and that “we will try to respond to you as soon as possible”. Ahmed didn’t hear anything else.
