The new British Prime Minister, Liz Truss, has appointed James Cleverly as Foreign Minister, his office said in a statement on Tuesday.
Cleverly has served as Secretary of Education since July, when Boris Johnson announced that he would resign and appoint the guard government until a new leader was appointed.
Cleverly, 53, has increased rapidly through a conservative ranking since he was first elected as a member of parliament for the British city of Braintree in 2015.
He also served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Minister of Junior, often providing parliamentary reforms on British support for Ukraine after the Russian invasion.
As Minister of Foreign Affairs, Truss established himself as critics of China and Russia, and cleverly indicated that his government would take a difficult line with Moscow and Beijing.
We really have to stand firmly in our support for the President (Volodymyr) Zelenskiy and Ukraine people, we really have to do that. And I do not hesitate we will continue to be strong friends now because we are under Boris Johnson, “Reuters said cleverly on Monday shortly after the truss was announced as a new conservative leader.
But of course, it is not the only problem. This is the most urgent, the most direct, but that is not the only problem. We have to deal with it but we also have to deal with long -term problems too. And … we will do both. “
Like Truss, cleverly remains loyal to Johnson and he is a supporter of the early Truss campaign to replace him as a leader.
Cleverly made his own pitch to become a leader in 2019, when former Prime Minister Theresa May resigned, but was the first candidate to come out of the race.
