Kremlin on Friday said it would increase gas supply to Europe if the turbine for the Nord Stream 1 pipe that was currently served in Canada was returned.
Reuters reported on Thursday that Ukraine opposed Canada who returned the turbine to the Russian Gazprom, on the grounds that it would violate the sanctions imposed after the placement of Russian armed forces to Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov rejected the claim that Russia used oil and gas to mobilize political pressure.
He said the closure of Nord Stream 1 maintenance planned for this month was a scheduled regular event, and that no one “created” improvements.
