Taiwan has sought Indian assistance to be included in Interpol, in the midst of intense military training by China near the island during the visit of US officials earlier this month.
China, with increasing influence, has been accused of abusing the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) for its benefits. This has had an effect on Interpol since 2016 using its economic power.
Taiwan is not an interpol member country. We cannot send our delegation to the General Assembly. India is a host country that has the power to invite us. We hope India and others invite Taiwan as observers,” Commissioner of the Commissioner of Criminal Investigation Bureau told India Today.
Meanwhile, tensions in the Taiwan Strait continued to increase when the Taiwan Ministry of Defense on Thursday (August 18) said that more than 50 Chinese military aircraft were detected operating around the island.
The Ministry of Defense wrote on Twitter, “6 plans and 51 PLA aircraft around us were detected today (August 18, 2022) to 1700 (GMT+8).
The Taiwan Air Force also showed off its anti-features on Thursday and stated that they were ready to act 24 hours a day for any situation.
We were not nervous at that time, because our regular training was prepared for 24-hour missile operations throughout the day. When the Chinese military acted, we were ready,” said Chen Te-Huan air defense officer.
