Uber said on Thursday it would end the uber eats restaurant shipping service in Brazil from March 7 and focus instead of shipping by Cornershop online grocery providers and on Uber Direct, shipping services for shops.
Brazil Journal, citing sources approaching this problem, saying this step is part of a global reposition strategy where Uber wants to close unfavorable operations. Uber did not give a reason to close the Brazilian uber at his statement.
Uber’s step comes in the midst of fierce competition in food delivery in Brazil, where other providers include Rappi, supported by Softbank Group Corp., and iFood, part of the movement, technology groups supported by the prosus.
Movile and Rappi, who have been considered as initial public offering, collecting millions of dollars last year to fund operations in Latin America.
